  DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Experimental Zoology and Evolutionary Biology conducts team research on the evolutionary, physiological and behavioural ecology of birds, with secondary hole-nesting passerines being the main experimental model. Our studies include also parasites of birds, including ticks, as well as invertebrates in the bird diet and nests.

The Department teaching involves different courses at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree studies in the following fields: Biology, Environment conservation, Biomonitoring and ecological biotechnologies, Forensic biology, and Eco-City.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates should meet the following criteria and have:

• doctoral diploma in biological or related sciences recognized in Poland (or a relevant certificate of awarding a doctoral degree);
• documented scientific achievements in the field of biology, in the form of publications in recognized international journals, indexed in Journal Citation Reports and the list of Polish MNiSzW (at least two publications having ≥ 100 points of MNiSzW);

·        willingness to participate in team research conducted by the Department of Experimental Zoology and Evolutionary Biology;

·        good command of spoken and written English;

• due to the teaching and administrative duties at the Department, a foreign Candidate must be fluent in Polish, both in writing and in speech;

·        due to the scope of teaching obligations, the Candidate is expected to have basic knowledge in the area of research and teaching competence of the Department and readiness to undertake new tasks;

• additional advantages of the Candidate would be: (i) documented participation in national and/or international scientific projects (papers), (ii) competence in field methods and data analysis, (iii) attendance in scientific conferences, (iv) certificates of courses;
• the candidate must meet the requirement of having no criminal record concerning offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code, and in the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939), as well as for acts prohibited under foreign law that correspond to these offenses.

The Candidate is expected to be professional, committed, creative, and able to work in a team.

 

RESEARCH DUTIES

‒      conducting and participating in scientific research;

‒      sourcing funds for scientific research by applying for grants in national or international competitions;

‒      publishing results of scientific studies in the most prestigious scientific journals, indexed by the Journal Citation Reportst;

‒      implementation of international mobility for research purposes.

‒      improving one's professional qualifications, including efforts to obtain further academic degrees and scientific title;

‒      fulfilling the above duties and other duties assigned by the direct superior, consistent with the strategy of the University and the Faculty.

 

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES

‒      conducting teaching classes carried out as part of an employment contract on an annual basis, specified by the Senate, for full-time, part-time and postgraduate studies;

‒      participation in developing and updating educational programs and teaching plans;

‒      developing teaching materials for classes;

‒      directing and reviewing diploma theses;

‒      improving one's own professional qualifications in the field of teaching activities;

‒      care for high quality of education and compliance of teaching work with the principles of the internal education quality assurance system;

‒      performing other teaching duties assigned by the direct superior.
