DESCRIPTION:
Assistant Professor (post-doc position) is a part of the project: “Metallofullerenols as a new generation of radioprotective agents – in vitro studies of radical processes in model biological membranes and in cellular model under radiation-induced oxidative stress” funded by the National Science Centre of Poland, under SONATA 15 funding scheme.
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:
- PhD in Chemistry,Biology or related disciplines;
- is fluent in Polish, both spoken and written;
- fluent knowledge of English;
- significant publication record - a minimum of five articles published JCR in journals with at least 100 Ministry of Education and Science points is required.
- experience in experimental work in chemical laboratory with particular emphasis on the practical knowledge on experiments related to chemical kinetics and physical organic chemistry;
- advanced knowledge on the field of chemistry of free radicals and antioxidants documented by publications in internationally recognized journals;
- experience in experimental work in thermal analysis (eg. DSC, TG, ITC);
- ability to work in a team (good teamwork).
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES:
Experience in conducting kinetic studies on autoxidation process of lipids/lipid analogs and in investigations of the mechanisms of free radical reactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate for the position will fulfill duties in accordance with the strategy of the University and the Department.
The candidate will conduct and participate in scientific research and development work:
- fulfilling duties in accordance with the strategy of the University and the Department,
- planning and performing experiments, analysis of data, preparing manuscripts, dissemination of the results in the most prestigious scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports list.
- conducting and participating in scientific research and development work,
- obtaining funds for scientific research by applying in competitions,
- implementation of international mobility for research purposes,
- organizing promotional and presentation actions for the benefit of the University and participation in them,
- organizing conferences, symposia, seminars, and other academic activities.
Detailed tasks:
(a) performing of a series of kinetic measurements of autoxidation processes of lipids/lipid analogs in homo- and heterogenous model systems (emulsions, biomembranes) in the presence of metallofullerenols by oxygen electrode/pressure transducer method;
(b) conducting studies on metallofullerenols-phospholipid bilayers interactions by means of calorimetric methods (DSC, ITC).
