DESCRIPTION (subject, expectations, comments):

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate an innovative approach to addressing fundamental questions about the ecology and biogeography of aquatic organisms through the study of their autecology, population dynamics and molecular phylogeography. The candidate should have the ability to develop datasets ranging from distribution and ecology data of organisms to molecular data to study the determinants of biodiversity and distribution patterns of aquatic vertebrate and invertebrate species. A comparative and evolutionary approach is desirable. We are looking for individuals with experience in foreign units and the ability to work in international teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate should meet the following criteria:

1. have a Ph.D. degree in biology or a closely related discipline that is recognized in Poland;
2. have experience in research on taxonomy, population dynamics, genetics or phylogeography supported by at least 3 articles in JCR journals scored 100-200 ministerial points that were published in the last 5 years, including at least 1 publication as first author;
3. demonstrate knowledge of DNA barcoding and other molecular biology techniques used in taxonomic and ecological studies;
4. conduct research in at least 3 countries;
5. have the ability to raise funds for research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- conducting and participating in scientific research and development work;

- raising funds for research by applying for national or international competitions;

- disseminating the results of scientific research or development by publishing the results in prestigious scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports list;

- improving his/her own professional qualifications, including with a view to obtaining further degrees and academic titles;

- implementation of international mobility for research purposes;

- showing initiative in the organisation and improvement of his/her own work and that of the team;

- other organisational duties assigned by the immediate superior.
