DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Oncobiology and Epigenetics is hiring an assistant professor to fulfill the research goals of scientific and commercially-driven projects conducted in the Biobank Lab. The work involves processing and biobanking samples of biological material of various origins, including those from human and environmental infectious sources. Responsibilities include conducting experiments using microarrays (genotyping, methylation and expression), as well as performing genetic analyses. The employee will be required to write and publish articles in highly ranked international JCR-listed journals and engage in promotional activities for the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, contributing to science popularization.
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:
- A doctoral degree in biological sciences or related fields recognized in Poland,
- 500 points from publications and/or patents, with at least one publication ≥ 100 points (according to the Ministry of Education and Science criteria) as the first or corresponding author.
- Practical knowledge of molecular biology and genetics.
- Experience in conducting experiments using Illumina Inc. DNA microarrays for genotyping and methylation assessment, including analysis of obtained results (e.g., GWAS).
- Practical knowledge of biobanking.
- Creation and supervision of biological material collections.
- Experience in working with infectious biological material, e.g., blood.
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES:
- Desirable knowledge of ISO 9001 standard and Quality Standards for Polish Biobanks,
- Preferred experience in implementing projects and grants from external sources (e.g., National Science Center, National Centre for Research and Development, etc.),
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfilling duties in accordance with the University's and Faculty's strategy,
- Conducting and participating in scientific research and development work,
- Acquiring funds for scientific research through applications in national or international competitions,
- Disseminating the results of scientific or development research by publishing them in the most prestigious scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports list,
- Implementation of international mobility for research purposes,
- Showing initiative in organizing and improving one's own work and the team/unit,
- Other organizational duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
The candidate is expected to have the ability to work as part of a team, high personal culture, communication skills, accuracy, conscientiousness, punctuality, good work organization, multi-tasking, resourcefulness, ability to work under time pressure, initiative, self-motivation to work independently, high motivation to learn, problem-solving skills, proficiency in spoken and written English, and ability to organize the purchase of research reagents.
