DESCRIPTION (subject, expectations, comments):

The project aims to unravel, via integrative approach, the processes behind evolutionary radiation in the ancient Lake Ohrid using the endemic Gammarus species flock (Crustacea, Amphipoda) as model organisms. The integrative approach will incorporate transcriptome sequencing and phylogenomics, functional morphology analysis and assessment of diet preferences using DNA metabarcoding.

Postdoc main tasks will focus on:

  1. Morphological identification of Amphipoda
  2. Material segregation and management (including databases)
  3. Morphological analysis of Amphipoda (including SEM/confocal microscopy, data analysis in R)
  4. Dissecting of Amphipods
  5. Isolation and amplification of DNA
  6. Preparation of publications and conference presentations
  7. General support in various tasks related to project

The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:

  1. Doctoral degree in Biology or related (valid in Poland)
  2. Substantial experience in working with Amphipoda morphology, supported with publications
  3. Experience in morphological data analysis (especially R)
  4. Experience in work with international team
  5. High motivation and enthusiasm to scientific work
  6. Responsibility and good time management
  7. At least 10 publications from JCR database from related to project specialization, in at least 5 publications, candidate should be the first and/or corresponding author.
  8. Basic knowledge of invertebrate morphology
