Description:

A candidate should fulfil the conditions set out in Article 113 and Article 116 of the Act of 20 July 2018. - Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: – Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742).

A candidate applying for employment is expected to:

• hold an M.A. in cultural studies and a doctoral degree in humanities (cultural studies);
• represent the discipline of culture and religion studies or arts studies;
• be ready to take up employment at the University of Lodz as the primary place of employment;
• have previous research achievements in film studies of the MENA region, confirmed by publications in highly rated Polish and foreign journals, participation in scientific projects and grants, and active participation in national and international conferences;
• know the cultural and religious specificity of the MENA region; at least basic knowledge of Islam is a prerequisite;
• have experience in organising scientific conferences, including the international ones;
• be fluent in Polish,
• have proficiency in academic English and French,
• have experience in teaching at the university level, also in foreign languages;
• have practice in knowledge dissemination;
• have experience in conducting research projects;
• be trained in leading research abroad;
• demonstrate good teamworking skills.

The following characteristics will be considered as additional assets:

• holding MA in Philosophy
• in candidate’s teaching experience, s/he conducted author’s courses
• background in administrative and organisational work at a higher education institution.

Responsibilities in the area of research;

• conducting scientific research in the declared scientific discipline
• submitting grant applications in departmental, university and non-university proceedings;
• submitting articles, chapters in monographs, or monograps for publication in periodicals and scientific publications;

Responsibilities in area of teaching duties:

• conducting teaching classes carried out as part of an employment relationship on an annual basis;
• timely preparation of study documentation for academic teachers;
• conducting examinations and tests, including diploma examinations;
• supervising students’ final and semester papers;
• conducting and reviewing diploma theses;
• developing teaching materials for classes;
• conducting consultations with students at a set number of hours;
• ensuring high quality of education and compliance of teaching work with the principles of the internal education quality assurance system;
• performing other teaching duties assigned by the direct superior;

Responsibilities in area of organizational duties:

• working on recruitment committees and examination committees in the university recruitment process;
• organizing promotional and presentation campaigns for the Faculty and University and participating in them;
• organizing conferences, symposia, seminars and other forms of academic activity;
• other organizational activities aimed at improving the functioning of the Faculty and University, improving the quality of education and scientific research;
• performing other organizational duties assigned by the direct superior.
