The candidate(s) are required to have knowledge of:

film studies, media studies, cultural studies and German philology with a particular focus on the audiovisual culture of the German-speaking countries.

The candidate should:

have the competence to analyse the poetics and narrative of both fiction and non-fiction film in its artistic, cultural, social and political aspects

demonstrate a very good knowledge of adaptation theory and the theory and practice of the creative process in this field

have a broad orientation and experience in cultural and media studies, the relationship of film with other arts and the links between the audiovisual market and cultural politics.

Requirements:

The candidate(s) must have a Master's degree in Cultural Studies/Film Studies. Preference is given to candidates who have completed their training at a doctoral school and submitted a dissertation. Knowledge of English and German is also required to the extent that it is possible to teach students of film studies, media studies, German philology, German-Polish studies and international journalism with German. Knowledge of German should be proven by a German language certificate at c1/c2 level or a diploma in German philology. The candidate is expected to have a proven academic record through publications in peer-reviewed journals and publishing houses, participation in conferences, research institutes and other institutions.

In addition, please prepare a brief description of a proposal for two authoring courses (as optional/module courses) for students of new media, film studies or German philology.

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

1. in terms of research work - active participation in scientific conferences and systematic publication of author's monographs and scientific articles in publications and scientific journals included in the updated list of scientific journals and publications of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; activity in acquiring scientific grants; popularisation of science

2. teaching of film studies and media studies, German philology, German-Polish studies (1st degree) or/and audiovisual media and digital culture, culture and contemporary art (2nd degree), international journalism with German (1st degree)

3. in the scope of organisational work - active participation in organisational activities for the Department of Film and Audiovisual Media, Institute of Contemporary Culture and Faculty of Philology at the University of Łódź

4. the candidate must meet the condition of not having a criminal record for offences specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Articles 189a and 207 of the Penal Code and in the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting 2 Drug Addiction (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939), as well as for corresponding offences specified in foreign laws.

Additional abilities:

l knowledge of screenwriting, aesthetics and/or history of audiovisual arts and/or culture and history of German-speaking countries

l completed internships/scholarships abroad

l knowledge of German (c1/c2) and English (no lower than b2).
