Who are we looking for
Job description:
The job will involve:
- Conducting scientific activities, including conceptual (applying for research projects, preparing scientific publications) and laboratory work
- Teaching
- undertaking activities for the benefit of the Faculty and the University (promotion, organization of events, participation in committees)
Requirements:
The candidate should possess flawless ethics and meet the requirements of Articles 113 and 116 of the Higher Education and Science Law from 20.07.2018 with amendments and the Regulations of the University of Łódź.
The candidate must meet the condition of no criminal record for the crimes specified in Chapter XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code and in the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939) and for the prohibited acts specified in foreign law corresponding to these crimes.
In case of not submitting all required declarations on time, the candidate's application may not be considered.
The candidate should meet the following criteria and possess:
- A Master’s degree in biological or related sciences honored in Poland
- Documented research activities in plant biology: 600 points from publications ≥ 100 points Ministry of Science and Higher Education list (including at least four publications ≥ 140 points, three publications from CiteScore Top 10% and at least two publication as a first co-author) or patents
- Good theoretical and practical knowledge in botany, plant physiology, and biochemistry on the organismal, histological, and cellular level
- Experience in conducting plant biology experiments on the histological and cellular level in physiological conditions and during abiotic and biotic stress factors
- Knowledge and skills in experimental biology techniques:
- In vitro cultures
- Cytological techniques (immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, light, fluorescence, confocal, and electron microscopy
- Plant physiology/biochemistry techniques (spectrophotometry, HPLC analyses)
- Molecular techniques (PCR, protein and nucleic acids electrophoresis, Western Blot)
- Data analysis skills using mathematical and statistical tools (Statistica, GraphPad)
- Ability to apply for research funding
- Willingness to undertake domestic and international research mobility
- Fluency in both Polish and English, enabling communication, teaching activities, and manuscript preparation
- Soft skills, including communication and interpersonal skills, working experience in a research group, independence, stress resistance, creativity, time management, and problem solving
- Skills in writing scientific text in plant biology, fluency in both standard office software and specialized tools for image analysis, creation and processing of graphics, and documentation of biological material
- Knowledge and teaching experience in botany and cell biology (due to the research and teaching work nature)
