Who are we looking for
The Department of Cancer Biology and Epigenetics will be hiring a geneticist to fulfill the research goals of scientific and scientific-commercial projects carried out in the Biobank Lab. The work will involve isolation of DNA and RNA from environmental samples and human material, next-generation sequencing (metabarcoding, shotgun), genetic analyses, analysis of human polymorphisms and their association with a specific phenotype or disease, biodiversity analyses of bacteria, fungi, invertebrates and vertebrates in various environments. The employee will be required to write and publish articles in high-scoring JCR journals and will be involved in the promotional activities of the Department of Biosciences (educational workshops for children and others).
The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:
- Doctoral degree in biological sciences or related sciences accepted in Poland,
- 500 points from publications ≥ 100 points of the Ministry of Education and Science,
- Experience in preparation of bacterial, fungal, animal and plant DNA/RNA libraries, next generation sequencing (NGS) on MiSeq and NovaSeq illumina, Inc. platforms and analysis of sequencing results.
The candidate is expected to have the ability to work as part of a team, high personal culture, communication skills, accuracy, conscientiousness, punctuality, good work organization, multi-tasking, resourcefulness, ability to work under time pressure, initiative, self-motivation to work independently, high motivation to learn, problem-solving skills, proficiency in spoken and written English, and ability to organize the purchase of research reagents.
