Who are we looking for
Candidates are expected to have:
• a doctoral degree (PhD) in humanities in the discipline of history, art history, or arts studies,
• a documented research record in 19th–21st century art history, with particular emphasis on European art and issues related to cultural accessibility and inclusivity,
• experience in research or implementation projects, including those funded by national or international sources,
• a documented publication record in recognized academic journals or publishing houses, including journals listed by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN),
• documented teaching experience in higher education,
• experience in organizing and conducting fieldwork classes and study trips,
• completion of courses and training improving academic teaching skills,
• good command of English (spoken and written), enabling publication in international journals and participation in international conferences and academic projects,
• documented experience working with people with disabilities and in public outreach activities related to art,
• active participation in national and international academic conferences,
• the candidate must meet the condition of no criminal record for the crimes specified in Chapter XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code and in the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939) and for the prohibited acts specified in foreign law corresponding to these crimes.
Additional Advantages:
• practical experience in preparing audio descriptions in the field of visual arts or cultural heritage,
• involvement in cooperation with museums, galleries, and cultural institutions,
• experience in organizing academic and outreach events.
The Assistant Professor will be responsible for:
• conducting research in the field of 19th–21st century art history,
• conducting research and implementation activities related to accessibility and dissemination of art, including activities addressed to people with special needs,
• teaching courses (lectures, classes, and seminars) in:
- 19th–21st century art history,
- methods of making art accessible to people with disabilities,
• conducting fieldwork classes, including study trips and on-site sessions for art history students,
• active participation in the organizational life of the Department and Institute, including involvement in research teams, organization of academic conferences, cooperation with cultural institutions, and science outreach projects.
