DESCRIPTION :


Employment at the Department of General Biophysics, University of Lodz, as an Assistant Professor in the research and teaching staff group. The position involves conducting research in the fields of cell and molecular biology as well as genetics. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate documented laboratory experience, including work with both 2D and 3D cell cultures, and possess an advanced command of English, both written and spoken.


REQUIREMENTS:


The candidate for the above position should have an impeccable ethical attitude and meet the requirements of Articles 113 and 116 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018, as amended, and the Statute of the University of Lodz.


The candidate must meet the condition of not having a criminal record for offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Articles 189a and 207 of the Penal Code, and in the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction of July 29, 2005 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939), as well as for corresponding offenses specified in foreign laws.

The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:


  • A PhD degree in the field of Natural Sciences within the discipline of Biological Sciences, recognized in Poland and awarded no more than three years before the date of the competition outcome.
  • Excellent command of both Polish and English, spoken and written.
  • An outstanding scientific record documented by authorship of publications in leading JCR-indexed journals, including at least three publications awarded 100–200 points under the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) evaluation system within the last five years, with at least one publication in a journal with an Impact Factor (IF) greater than 5 or valued at 200 MNiSW points.
  • Documented experience in scientific research projects, including evidence of submitting a research grant application as a Principal Investigator.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including RNA isolation and integrity assessment, reverse transcription, and real-time RT-PCR, as well as immunodetection methods such as immunofluorescence staining, immunoprecipitation, and Western blotting. Experience in preparing immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical specimens from cell cultures and in vivo material for confocal microscopy is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and applying laboratory techniques related to gene expression manipulation.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret research data, proficiency in statistical methods and software, experience in conducting scientific research, and effective presentation of research findings.
  • Documented experience in teaching courses


ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES:


  • Documented experience in scientific research projects.
  • Proficiency in the preparation of next-generation sequencing (NGS) libraries and in the bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


The successful candidate will perform their duties in accordance with the strategic objectives of the University and the Faculty.


 


The person appointed through this recruitment process will perform functions and duties assigned by their supervisors and will be responsible for:


  • Delivering teaching activities, developing teaching materials for the courses taught, ensuring high-quality education, and maintaining compliance with the University's internal quality assurance system for education.
  • Supervising and reviewing undergraduate and graduate theses.
  • Conducting and participating in scientific research and development activities.
  • Leading a research program or participating in an international research program.
  • Generating experimental results and performing their graphical and statistical analysis.
  • Securing research funding through applications to competitive grant schemes.
  • Disseminating research outcomes through publications in prestigious JCR-indexed scientific journals.
  • Actively participating in scientific conferences and seminars.
  • Pursuing the protection of intellectual property, including patenting research results.
  • Continuously developing professional qualifications, particularly in the areas of molecular biology and microscopy techniques.
  • Organizing and participating in promotional and outreach activities on behalf of the University of Lodz.
  • Organizing and participating in conferences, symposia, seminars, and other forms of academic activity, as well as undertaking organizational responsibilities that contribute to improving the functioning of the University of Lodz and enhancing the quality of education and scientific research.
