Description:

The candidate will be able to carry out basic and application research at the Department of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology on biodegradation and biotransformation of xenobiotics, particularly dangerous to human health, as well as compounds that threaten the proper functioning of the natural environment. The research conducted by the Candidate, including mass spectrometry at an advanced level, will make it possible to learn about the biodegradation/biotransformation pathways of toxic compounds, as well as the characteristics of the proteome and lipidome of the tested microorganisms. In addition, the Candidate will be able to conduct research on the ability to remove heavy metals by microorganisms.

The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:

- PhD degree in the discipline of biological sciences, obtained not later than two years before the closing date of the competition, recognized in Poland;

- 300 points from publications ≥100 MEiN points or patents, including at least one publication ≥100 MEiN points as the first author or corresponding.

The candidate is expected to have:

- theoretical and practical knowledge at an advanced level in the field of microbial biotechnology, industrial microbiology, biodegradation of toxic compounds and a publication record in this field in peer-reviewed journals in the JCR database;

- experience in research and development within research projects;

- knowledge of microbial cultivation;

- theoretical and practical knowledge of liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), MALDI TOF/TOF and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS) technique

- experience in carrying out metabolomic, proteomic and lipidomic analyses;

- knowledge of the application of confocal microscopy;

- ability to carry out statistical analyses in programmes such as Statistica and MarkerView;

- competence in the preparation of scientific texts and research projects;

- experience in conducting exercises and laboratory classes in environmental biotechnology, microbiological biotechnology, industrial microbiology, mycology, and fluency in Polish;

- good knowledge of English;

- proficiency in computer skills (including MS Office.
