Legal Requirements
The candidate must satisfy the requirements set forth in Article 113 and Article 116 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Łódź.
The candidate must satisfy the requirement of having no criminal record with regard to offences specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Polish Penal Code, in Articles 189a and 207 of the Penal Code, as well as under the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939), and equivalent offences defined under foreign law.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates applying for the position must meet the following requirements:
· A doctoral degree (PhD) in an appropriate field;
· Interests in paleobotany, paleoenvironment, stratigraphy;
· Academic background in the exact and natural sciences;
· Readiness to take up employment at the University of Łódź as the primary place of work;
· Research interests within the discipline of Earth and Environmental Sciences;
· Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and to produce scholarly publications, evidenced by a minimum of five publications in reputable academic journals in the period 2021–2025;
· Fluency in Polish and English at a level sufficient for the delivery of academic courses;
· Confirmed practical experience in the teaching process;
· Strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and openness to cooperation.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The following qualifications and experience will be regarded as additional assets:
· Experience in applying for research grants and managing funded research projects;
· Participation in national and international scientific research projects;
· Collaboration with foreign academic institutions aimed at establishing contacts and conducting joint research;
· Experience in organising academic events;
· Presentations of papers at national and international conferences;
· Recipient of prestigious academic awards or scholarships.
Scope of Teaching Responsibilities
The teaching responsibilities of the postholder shall include:
· Delivery of courses assigned within the scope of the employment relationship, including courses conducted by means of distance learning methods and techniques;
· Administration of examinations and assessments for all taught courses;
· Timely preparation of academic documentation required of teaching staff, including the recording of grades in the USOS system;
· Participation in the updating of course content in collaboration with the module coordinator;
· Development of teaching and instructional materials for courses delivered;
· Continuing professional development in the areas relevant to the courses taught;
· Conducting student consultations for a minimum of two hours per week;
· Engagement with the socio-economic environment in connection with the courses delivered;
· Fulfilment of any other teaching duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
Scope of Research Responsibilities
The research responsibilities of the postholder shall include:
· Securing research funding through competitive grant applications;
· Conducting and participating in scientific research projects;
· Disseminating research findings through publication in academic journals and scholarly monographs;
· Active participation in academic conferences and scientific seminars;
· Establishing and maintaining collaboration with national and international research institutions;
· Continuing professional development, including with a view to obtaining further academic degrees and titles.

· A copy of the diploma confirming the completion of higher education studies and the award of the doctoral degree;
· A curriculum vitae (CV);
· A list of scholarly and academic achievements to date;
· Documents confirming completed training courses and held certificates (including language certificates); in the absence of certificates, a declaration indicating the level of foreign language proficiency (basic, intermediate, advanced);
· Optionally – a reference letter from the most recent place of employment.
