Who are we looking for
Competition for the employment of a tutor of English for a fixed-term contract from 23 February 2026 to 22 February 2027.

Description :
• completed higher education studies in the field of English philology and obtained academic degree of Master of Arts,
• substantiated teacher training and teaching experience as a tutor of students at institutions of higher education and/or experience in teaching adults and youth at no less than B1 level (including work placement within the framework of studies),
• experience in creating and accomplishing English syllabuses according to the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
• substantiated second foreign language competence at minimum B1 level,
• computer literacy (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Excel),
• experience in LDL and/or knowledge of MS Teams, Zoom, Clickmeeting, etc,
• substantiated own teaching materials customized for teaching ESP at individual faculties including materials prepared for e-learning educational platforms, especially Moodle,
• substantiated constant improvement of qualifications, especially in the field of IT teaching methods and techniques (including a completed teacher training course and research activity within the framework of studies),
• availability - readiness to work from Monday to Friday with full-time students and from Friday to Sunday with extra mural students, both in faculty buildings and online,
• substantiated competence of translating texts and teaching ESP,
• ability of consecutive translations,
• experience in organizing conferences and seminars,
• excellent references from the current workplace ( last two years ) or work placement supervisor’s assessment,
• declaration of non-competition towards the University of Łódź.
In the case of the people who do not have Polish citizenship a work permit valid on the territory of Poland is required as well as confirmed command of the Polish language at A2 level according to CEFR.
The candidate must meet the condition of no criminal record for the offences specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code and the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939) and for the prohibited acts corresponding to these offences specified in the provisions of foreign law.
Candidates are kindly requested to submit the following documents:
- job application to the Rector of the University of Łódź including the attachments listed below:
- personal questionnaire,
- curriculum vitae,
- copy of a diploma of the university degree,
- declaration stating that when employed the job applicant will consider the University of Łódź as their primary workplace as stipulated by Law on Higher Education and Science,
- information concerning a course of teaching career as well as substantiated scholarly achievements in teaching,
- list of participation in conferences and seminars as well as vocational training courses,
- only for applicants from outside the University of Łódź: references concerning teaching experience from the current workplace ( last two years ). The opinion is confidential and should be submitted at cjic@uni.lodz.pl by the reference provider.
- submit Appendix No. 1 to the University of Lodz Minor Protection Standards, a declaration for verification purposes in the Sex Offenders Register
- submit Appendix No. 2 to the University of Lodz Minor Protection Standards, a declaration of no criminal record and commitment to comply with the University of Lodz Minor Protection Standards
Core teaching and organisational duties :
- teaching classes conducted under an employment contract on an annual basis, as determined by the Senate, in full-time, part-time, and postgraduate studies, including teaching by means of distance learning methods and techniques;
- timely preparation of study documentation for academic teachers;
- participation in the development and updating of study programs and class schedules;
- conducting examinations and assessments;
- supervising students' term papers and final exams;
- developing teaching materials for classes;
- providing consultation to students for at least two hours per week;
- improving professional qualifications in the teaching activities;
- ensuring high quality of education and compliance of teaching with the principles of the internal quality assurance system;
- working on the University's collegial bodies;
- serving on admission and examination committees during the admission process;
- organizing and participating in promotional and presentation activities for the University;
- organizing conferences, symposia, seminars, and other academic activities;
- other teaching and organizational duties assigned by the immediate superior.
