DESCRIPTION (subject area, expectations, comments):
The candidate will have the opportunity to conduct basic and applied research at the Centre for Biological Risk Prevention, including the design, construction, and testing of modern detectors for detecting biological pathogens and toxins, as well as sensors for identifying substances that could be used as potential chemical weapons. The work will be carried out in the direct context of biological and chemical threats, including CBRNE and bioterrorism, with an emphasis on risk assessment, validation of detection methods and the development of new solutions to enhance security.
The candidate is expected to have advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of biological threats, biosensors, IT and biophysical technologies necessary to conduct this type of research. Experience in preparing research projects and active scientific achievements confirmed by publications in peer-reviewed journals included in the JCR database will be welcome.
The candidate will also have the opportunity to teach classes in biological safety, CBRNE and detection techniques, supporting the development of students' competencies in these key areas.
SCOPE OF DUTIES:
— fulfilling duties in accordance with the strategy of the University and the Faculty,
— preparing and conducting academic classes,
— actively participating in scientific research and development work,
— implementing international mobility for research purposes,
— establishing national and international research cooperation,
— disseminating the results of scientific or development research by publishing them in scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports list,
— improving professional qualifications, including the development of research and teaching competencies and striving to obtain further academic degrees and titles,
— actively promoting the Faculty and the University by participating in scientific, popularisation and educational events,
— performing organisational tasks, functions and duties assigned by superiors
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates for the above position should have impeccable ethical standards and meet the requirements of Articles 113 and 116 of the Act on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018, as amended, and the Statutes of the University of Łódź.
The candidate must not have a criminal record for offences specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Criminal Code, in Articles 189a and 207 of the Criminal Code, and in the Act of 29 July 2005 on counteracting drug addiction (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939) and for acts prohibited by foreign law corresponding to these offences.

Candidates are expected to be committed to academic work and highly motivated to carry out research tasks as well as prepare and conduct research projects; they should be systematic, reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and in a team.
