Who are we looking for
Candidate Requirements:
-
PhD degree in the Humanities in the discipline of Literary Studies , obtained no more than 3 years ago;
-
Completion of First and Second-cycle studies (BA & MA) in Polish Philology with a specialization in Literary Editing ;
-
Documented experience in working with manuscripts (evidenced by publications or participation in research projects);
-
Specialization in Polish literature of the 19th and early 20th centuries ;
-
Academic track record including a scholarly monograph, articles published in peer-reviewed (indexed) journals, critical editions , and papers presented at academic conferences – primarily in the field of 19th and early 20th-century Polish literature;
-
Academic teaching experience in subjects such as: history of 19th and 20th-century Polish literature, analysis of literary works, non-fiction literature, and text editing;
-
A minimum of 3 years of experience working in research teams implementing projects funded through national or international competitions, as well as experience in grant writing (applying for research funding);
-
Experience in organizing academic conferences and events promoting 19th-century Polish literature and culture.
Additional Assets:
-
Documented cooperation with other national or international research centers;
-
Other activities related to the dissemination and popularization of knowledge about 19th-century Polish literature;
-
Graphology course or other certified competencies in the analysis of historical manuscripts;
-
Experience as an editor for academic publishing houses;
-
Research interests centered around ego-documents (personal documents) and biography studies.
Candidates undertake to accept employment at the University of Lodz as their primary place of work on a full-time basis – availability on-site in Lodz 5 days a week is required.
Scope of Responsibilities
1. Teaching Responsibilities:
-
Conducting teaching activities (within the annual workload defined by the University Senate) for full-time, part-time, and postgraduate programs, including distance learning methods and techniques (e-learning);
-
Timely preparation of academic documentation concerning the course of study;
-
Participation in the development and updating of curricula and syllabi;
-
Conducting course assessments and examinations;
-
Supervision of students’ term papers and semester projects;
-
Development of instructional materials for assigned courses;
-
Continuous improvement of professional teaching qualifications;
-
Ensuring high-quality education and compliance with the Internal Quality Assurance System;
-
Providing student consultations (office hours) for at least 2 academic hours per week;
-
Performing other teaching-related duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
2. Research Responsibilities:
-
Conducting and participating in scientific research and development (R&D) projects;
-
Securing research funding by applying for grants and academic competitions;
-
Disseminating research results through scholarly publications;
-
Active participation in scientific conferences and seminars;
-
Improving professional qualifications to attain subsequent academic degrees and titles (e.g., habilitation, professorship).
3. Organizational Responsibilities:
-
Serving on collegial bodies and faculty, senate, or rectoral committees;
-
Working on admissions and examination committees during the student recruitment process;
-
Organizing and participating in promotional events for the University;
-
Involvement in the organization of conferences, symposia, seminars, and other academic activities;
-
Performing functions assigned by supervisors, including supervising student internships;
-
Other organizational activities aimed at improving University operations, teaching quality, and research excellence;
-
Performing other organizational duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
The candidate must meet the requirement of no criminal record regarding the offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Art. 189a and Art. 207 of the Penal Code, and in the Act of July 29, 2005, on Counteracting Drug Addiction, as well as for prohibited acts defined under foreign law that correspond to these offenses.
