Who are we looking for
We are looking for a person interested in developing a scientific career in botany, geobotany, plant ecology, or biodiversity conservation. We seek a candidate holding a Master's degree in Biology (or a related field), with a scientific record documented by publications and experience in research activities. Experience in fieldwork, participation in scientific projects, and an interest in teaching are considered advantages. The successful candidate will participate in research conducted within the Department of Geobotany and Plant Ecology, teach academic courses, and contribute to the further development of the Department.
DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will conduct research in botany, geobotany, plant ecology or related fields of environmental biology, participate in teaching activities carried out by the Department of Geobotany and Plant Ecology, contribute to the organizational duties of the Department, and support the implementation of research, field and laboratory projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate for the above position should have an impeccable ethical attitude and meet the requirements of Articles 113 and 116 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018, as amended, and the Statute of the University of Lodz.
The candidate must meet the condition of not having a criminal record for offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Articles 189a and 207 of the Penal Code, and in the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction of July 29, 2005 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939), as well as for corresponding offenses specified in foreign laws.

The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:
- a Master's degree in Biology or a related field recognized in Poland;
- documented research experience in botany, plant ecology, geobotany, plant taxonomy or biodiversity conservation;
- documented publication record corresponding to at least 100 points according to the current list of scientific journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
- experience in field and/or laboratory biological research;
- qualifications and preparation for teaching courses in biology, botany or ecology;
- a good command of English enabling the use of scientific literature and participation in research activities;
- ability to work in a team and willingness to engage in organizational activities of the Department.
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES:
- participation in scientific research projects;
- experience working with biological collections, herbaria or scientific databases;
- experience in science communication and organizational activities related to university operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will perform duties in accordance with the strategy of the University and the Faculty and will be responsible for:
· conducting scientific research;
· teaching courses consistent with the profile of the Department;
· participating in organizational activities of the Department and the Faculty;
· applying for research funding through competitive grant schemes;
· participating in research, field and laboratory projects;
· supporting the development of the Department's research and teaching infrastructure.
