Who are we looking for

 Requirements for Candidates:

  1. A Master’s degree in Romance Philology;
  2. Documented teaching experience, particularly in higher education settings;
  3. Research and/or professional interests in the teaching of specialised languages (a certificate confirming proficiency in specialised French is an additional asset);
  4. Participation in educational projects and training programmes (considered an additional asset);
  5. Command of English at a communicative level or higher;
  6. A commitment to take up employment at the University of Łódź as the primary place of work on a full-time basis.

The candidate must meet the requirement of having no criminal record with respect to offences specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Polish Penal Code, as well as in Articles 189a and 207 of the Penal Code, and under the Act of 29 July 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (consolidated text: Journal of Laws 2023, item 1939), as well as corresponding prohibited acts defined under foreign law.

Scope of Duties in the Position

The employee is expected to perform assigned tasks diligently and conscientiously and to follow the instructions of their superiors, provided these are not contrary to the law. In particular, an academic teacher is obliged to:

Teaching Responsibilities

  1. Conduct teaching activities as part of the employment relationship within the annual teaching load specified by the Senate, in full-time and part-time programmes, including the use of distance-learning methods and techniques;
  2. Conduct teaching beyond the annual teaching load (treated as overtime hours), if necessary;
  3. Administer course assessments and examinations; conduct resit examinations if required;
  4. Prepare and submit all required academic documentation in a timely manner, including recording grades in the USOS system; where necessary, act as course coordinator within a given language group;
  5. Cooperate with the course coordinator in updating course content;
  6. Supervise students’ coursework and semester assignments;
  7. Develop teaching materials; where possible, employ modern foreign language teaching methods, including digital tools and e-learning platforms;
  8. Prepare and conduct classes in a foreign language;
  9. Continuously improve professional qualifications related to teaching duties;
  10. Ensure high quality of teaching and compliance with the internal quality assurance system;
  11. Hold consultations with students for at least 2 hours per week;
  12. Engage in cooperation with the socio-economic environment in connection with teaching activities (e.g. collaboration with French-language institutions such as cultural institutes or examination centres);
  13. Perform other teaching-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Organisational Responsibilities

  1. Participate in admissions committees during the student recruitment process;
  2. Organise and participate in promotional and outreach activities for the University;
  3. Assist in organising conferences, symposia, seminars, and other academic events; participate in events promoting French language and culture (e.g. Francophonie Days);
  4. Perform other organisational duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  8. Information clause on the processing of personal data for job applicants (processing is based on Article 6(1)(c) and (a), and Article 9(2)(a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 – General Data Protection Regulation).

The University reserves the right to invite selected candidates for interviews. Travel costs related to attending the meeting of the Faculty Recruitment Committee are to be covered by the applicant.

The candidate selected for employment is required, prior to taking up the position, to submit a certificate of no criminal record issued by the National Criminal Register, dated no earlier than six months before its submission to the University of Łódź.
