Who are we looking for
Candidate Requirements:
-
PhD degree in Linguistics;
-
Academic achievements (doctoral dissertation, publications, conference participation) in the field of Polish glottodidactics (Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language);
-
Qualifications for teaching Polish as a foreign language (completed specialization in glottodidactics, practical experience in the field);
-
University-level teaching experience (minimum five years);
-
Experience in conducting Polish as a foreign language courses for specific purposes (due to a cooperation agreement with the Medical University of Lodz, medical profile preferred);
-
Qualifications as a Chair of the Examination Board, Examiner, Item Writer, and Verifier for the State Certificate Examinations in Polish as a Foreign Language (documented experience as an active Chair of the Board required);
-
Qualifications as a telc examiner.
Additional Assets:
-
Completion of national and international professional development courses in teaching, with a particular focus on blended learning;
-
Experience in conducting classes in English;
-
Participation in international projects related to teaching Polish as a foreign language;
-
Authorship of didactic materials for teaching Polish as a foreign language (e.g., coursebooks, scripts, or manuals);
-
Experience in designing, verifying, and conducting B2-level entrance examinations for international candidates applying for degree programs taught in Polish;
-
Experience in verifying national specialized examinations (e.g., ACERT) for university students;
-
Research interests centered around verbal and non-verbal communication between the instructor and the student group.
Candidates undertake to accept employment at the University of Lodz as their primary place of work on a full-time basis – availability on-site in Lodz 5 days a week is required.
Scope of Responsibilities
1. Teaching Responsibilities:
-
Conducting teaching activities (within the annual workload defined by the University Senate) for full-time, part-time, and postgraduate programs, including distance learning methods and techniques (e-learning);
-
Timely preparation of academic documentation concerning the course of study;
-
Participation in the development and updating of curricula and syllabi;
-
Conducting course assessments and examinations;
-
Supervision of students’ term papers and semester projects;
-
Development of instructional materials for assigned courses;
-
Continuous improvement of professional teaching qualifications;
-
Ensuring high-quality education and compliance with the Internal Quality Assurance System;
-
Providing student consultations (office hours) for at least 2 academic hours per week;
-
Performing other teaching-related duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
2. Research Responsibilities:
-
Conducting and participating in scientific research and development (R&D) projects;
-
Securing research funding by applying for grants and academic competitions;
-
Disseminating research results through scholarly publications;
-
Active participation in scientific conferences and seminars;
-
Improving professional qualifications to attain subsequent academic degrees and titles (e.g., habilitation, professorship).
3. Organizational Responsibilities:
-
Serving on collegial bodies and faculty, senate, or rectoral committees;
-
Working on admissions and examination committees during the student recruitment process;
-
Organizing and participating in promotional events for the University;
-
Involvement in the organization of conferences, symposia, seminars, and other academic activities;
-
Performing functions assigned by supervisors, including supervising student internships;
-
Other organizational activities aimed at improving University operations, teaching quality, and research excellence;
-
Performing other organizational duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
The candidate must meet the requirement of no criminal record regarding the offenses specified in Chapters XIX and XXV of the Penal Code, in Art. 189a and Art. 207 of the Penal Code, and in the Act of July 29, 2005, on Counteracting Drug Addiction, as well as for prohibited acts defined under foreign law that correspond to these offenses.
